Wrangler JK History

The JK was launched in 2007 featuring a more rounded body style compared to its predecessor (the TJ). The JK was built on a new platform, offering improved ride quality and handling, both on and off-road.

Wrangler JK models were initially offered with a 3.8L V6 engine, but was replaced by a more powerful and efficient 3.6L Pentastar V6 in 2012, significantly boosting performance. Transmission options included either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Jeep offered more body styles and trim levels on the JK catering to a wider range of customers. Two and four door options were offered on the JK along with the Sport, Sahara and Rubicon trim levels. Jeep also launched special editions including the: 10th Anniversary Rubicon, Altitude, and Willys Wheeler.

The JK became one of the best-selling Wranglers for its comfort upgrades and robust off-road capability. Its versatility for both everyday driving and extreme off-roading appealed to a larger audience.

The JK ended production in 2018 and was replaced by the Wrangler JL model.
